It is not enough to try and know what weight you should be. Two people that are the same height could actually need to be a different ideal weight. You cannot know what your correct weight height is by simply reading off of a chart.
The first thing that you need to know is whether or not you have a small frame, a medium frame, or a large frame. Your frame is not determined by your weight. There are some people who are very heavy but have a small frame. Other people may not weigh very much but they have a large frame. Your body frame is determined by your skeletal structure. In order to determine what your body frame is, place one of your hands with your fingers around the wrist of your other arm. If your fingers touched each other, then you are a medium framed person. If the fingers overlap each other, then you have a small frame. If your fingers do not touch, then you have a large frame.
Another factor is to determine what your basal metabolic rate is. Someone who has a greater muscle mass will have a higher metabolic rate than someone who has a higher percentage of fat.
Finally you need to find out what your waist to hip ratio is. This will help your physician determine if you have a risk for any major health problems.
You can try to do these tests by yourself, but it is recommended that your doctor help you. By using the expertise of your doctor, you will be able to determine your correct weight height.
